The development of beverages
2024-01-15
The Chinese beverage industry is an emerging industry that has developed since the reform and opening up, and is a hot spot and new growth point for consumer goods in China. In the past 30 years, the beverage industry has continuously developed and matured, gradually changing the previous situation of small scale, single product structure, and disorderly competition. The scale and intensification of beverage enterprises are constantly increasing, and the product structure is becoming increasingly reasonable. Chinese beverage brands have achieved significant development, with over a dozen ethnic brands and 22 brands among the five major product categories being rated as well-known Chinese brands.
In the past five years, the Chinese beverage market has become one of the fastest-growing markets in the Chinese food industry. The Chinese beverage industry is developing rapidly at a rate of 16% per year. In 2005, the total production reached 33.8 million tons, an increase of 17.8% compared to the previous year.
During the 11th Five Year Plan period, China focused on adjusting the structure of beverage products and reducing the proportion of carbonated beverages. The total production of the beverage industry continues to increase, mainly developing fruit and vegetable juice beverages, plant protein beverages, and tea beverages, moderately developing bottled (canned) mineral water, and gradually reducing the development of carbonated beverages such as cola. Therefore, driven by favorable policies, the next five years will be a period of restructuring of the soft drink industry framework, with health drinks such as functional drinks, fruit drinks, and tea drinks becoming the mainstay of the framework structure. Pursuing the value of health is an inevitable direction for the future development of beverages in the Chinese market.
